How Far is the Walk from Ghandruk to Annapurna Base Camp?

I had always wanted to see big mountains up close, so I chose the Annapurna Base Camp via Ghandruk trail for my first trek. I had no idea what to expect, but it turned out to be one of the best adventures of my life. The walk from Ghandruk to Annapurna Base Camp is about 37 kilometers (23 miles). It took me six days to reach the base camp, walking around 5 to 7 hours each day.

Starting from the peaceful village of Ghandruk at 1,940 meters (6,364 feet), I slowly made my way up to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters (13,550 feet). Along the way, I passed through beautiful places like Chhomrong, Bamboo, and Deurali. I saw tall waterfalls, green forests, and clear skies. It felt like walking through a dream.

As a first-time trekker, I found the trail to be just right. It was not too hard, and the local people were very kind. I stayed in small lodges called teahouses where I had warm food and met other happy travelers. Each day brought something new—a sunrise over the hills, the sound of birds, or a view of a snowy peak.

The final day was the best. When I reached Annapurna Base Camp, I stood in the middle of huge mountains. I felt proud, tired, and full of joy. I still think about that moment and smile. If you're new to trekking like me, the Annapurna Base Camp via the Ghandruk trail is a perfect way to start. It’s safe, beautiful, and full of small surprises that make the journey unforgettable.
